Join us on our journey to bring improved and enjoyable spaces and gardens to Gordon Court through the redevelopment and extension of the existing building
Gordon Court, an existing two storey residential building in an ‘L’ shaped form.
jLiving provides affordable, quality housing primarily, but not exclusively, to members of the Jewish Community. The Association welcomes applications from everyone regardless of gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability to enjoy secure, welcoming accommodation, including associated services for those aspiring to live independently.
Current Residential provision includes:
33 flats in total arranged over two floors.
Including 26 studio flats for single people, 6 one-bedroom flats and 1 two-bedroomed flat for couples.
The new development proposes a net total of 44 affordable rented flats (comprised of 20 new, 16 reconfigured flats and 8 retained flats), and the reconfiguration of the existing accommodation to create one-bedroom apartments from existing bedsits and ancillary accommodation. The units will be a mix of both 1B1P and 1B2P flats.
The new development proposes to retain the existing building on the site, adding two new storeys to the front and side wing, and retaining a two-storey element in the vicinity of mature trees on the western side of the site. In addition to the airspace development a number of small extensions have been added to allow improved accommodation in existing apartments.

The proposal showcases a harmonious blend of brick and grey metal accents, creating a striking visual contrast that complements the architectural character of Stongrove, Edgware. Expansive windows invite abundant natural light into the interior spaces, fostering a bright and welcoming atmosphere. Thoughtfully designed balconies provide residents with private outdoor retreats, perfect for relaxation or entertaining.
The building’s clean lines and minimalist aesthetic contribute to its contemporary charm, while the surrounding landscaped greenery enhances the overall ambiance, seamlessly integrating with the suburban fabric of Stonegrove. This design embodies modern sophistication and presents a compelling vision for an attractive and desirable living space within this vibrant community.

Amenity Areas
A key feature of the proposal is a thoughtfully designed Sukkah, offering residents a serene space for traditional celebrations and gatherings. Set within a tranquil landscape featuring a dry riverbed design and enhanced by new greenery, it creates a meaningful space for contemplation. Provision is also made for residents to garden small plots (in raised beds) to experience the therapeutic value of gardening directly. Discreetly positioned behind a natural screen of mature trees, the garden spaces and communal spaces are ensured privacy and seclusion while maintaining harmony with the broader landscape. Featuring a thoughtfully curated selection of native and Non Native plants, the design balances seasonal colour, texture and year round greenery - offering a harmonious blend of beauty and purpose.

The Proposal
Around the building it is proposed to add small extensions to form balconies and bay windows which increase the footprint of the existing apartments at ground and first floor level and create better quality accommodation. Some reconfiguration internally is also proposed. At ground floor level further extensions will allow an increase in the amenity area for the residents with and enlarged communal lounge.
